Welcome Back Students!

Welcome back for another exciting year at PCA! Parents and students, I will be updating my blog regularly so please check back often for any news on my classes. Also, I will be communicating with parents through e-mail this year so parents please provide me with your e-mail addresses so that I can make sure to keep in touch with you.

This year, we will be using Accelerated Math in my Pre-Algebra and Algebra I classes and we also will be using SuccessNet which coincides with our textbooks.

See if you can solve these problems!

1) 2 squares and 1 triangle have a value of 39. 2 triangles and 1 square have a value of 42. 3 circles, 4 triangles, and 5 squares have a value of 150. What is the value of 1 square? What is the value of 1 circle? What is the value of 1 triangle?

2) Write 329,000 in scientific notation.

3) Is 4² + 3² less than, greater than, or equal to (4² + 3)²?

4) Find the mean, median, and mode of: 1,1,2,3,3,3,1,2

5) What is the area and the perimeter of a rectangle that has a length of 10 and a width of 8?

1) 5 boxes of crayons and 3 packs of pencils cost $10.75. 3 boxes of crayons and 5 packs of pencils cost $11.25. How much is 1 box of crayons? How much is 1 pack of pencils?

4) 20 is 25% of what number?

5) y + 2y - 4 = 17. Solve for y.
